The Art of Revamping a Logo

4/7/2016

Revamping Logos

It's not uncommon for us to get a request to breathe new life into an already existing logo. The art of revamping logos is the type of project we thoroughly enjoy partaking in, especially because the end result greets us with huge smiles and happy clients.

We want to share the story of Soilgrown, whom we first met over a year ago while we were stomping around at Hemp Con. We made a connection then, but it wasn't until almost a year later that we actually found the opportunity to work together. They were having trouble with their banner and logo, which was not formatted properly enough to be legible when they blew it up into a large banner for their conference booth. That's when they came to us, to see if we had any solutions for making their old logo and banner more legible when blown up to huger than normal sizes.

To improve the logo and banner, we used a little Photoshop magic to create bolder lines, used darker color pairings, and simplified the background for ultimate visibility. When they got their new banner blown up, they couldn't believe the clarity. Their new banner was legible enough when we were done with it, that you could see it clearly now from about 100 yards away.

We know graphic designs problems and solutions come in different packages and no situation is the same, but what you can count on, is our dedication to the customer which why we encourage you to seek us out with your logo revamping projects. We have the ability not just to put a "420 Friendly" spin on it, but also a professional one. We love what we do and we're dedicated to being the only graphic design solution you need. Have you ever had to revamp your old logo? What lengths did you go to to make it look good? Share your story with us by dropping it in our comments section below.

So-Cal High Times Cannabis Cup Review

2/9/2016

We had the pleasure of traveling down to So Cal for the High Times Cannabis Cup celebration this past weekend, where we got to meet some artists we've work with for the very first time, and seshed with some of the Bay Area regulars who also traveled down for the big shin dig. Big does not even begin to describe the campus that High Times built over the NOS Event Center in San Bernardino. We were told the whole thing spanned over an acre and it was certainly bigger than any medical cannabis event we've ever seen.

We had the luxury of touring the grounds by golf cart shortly after we arrived with our friends from Dabblicious, ending the tour with a stop at the Dabblicious booth were we got to see our mural come to life. Of course, it was even better that the booth was also near the Cookie Monster 415 family, where our Terp Hogs design was transformed into a huge flag. It's always a blessing to see a project come to life and we were able to see the fruit of our labor on this day, which made it only that much sweeter. Besides those we've mentioned we caught up with Dopey Xtracts, Flyin' High, Mad Scientist Genetics, and Gold Nugget Farms, to name a few.

Some of the highlights included touring the festival grounds by golf cart, hangin' at the plush Dablicious booth, smoking a legendary canna cigar (made by @thedraftdodger which was so unbelieveably smooth), delivering our custom artwork to @dope_as_yola, smoking a joint with BREAL (hell yeah!), growing our collection of hoodies and t-shirts, and of course getting to see how all the art work turned out.

In all it was a successful trip on a beautiful So-Cal day, probably the only thing we regret is not taking more pictures. Were you there? What were your highlights, tell us about them by leaving a comment below. Now we're looking forward to when High Times makes it's way up to Northern Cali!

Cannabis Community Events: Beach Cleaning with Big Pete's Treats

We drove out to Santa Cruz for a good cause this past Fourth of July weekend to hang with Big Pete's Treats and to pickup trash off of the sandy shores of Seabright Beach. Whenever we hear about a cannabis community event for a good cause we do our best to make an appearance and help support the community's efforts. On this particular day it was clear the beach needed our help. We reported to Seabright at 10:30 in the morning on Sunday July 5th where Pete and his crew were already at it.

We could tell a good time was had by those who were at the beach on the night of July 4th by all the junk that was left behind remnants of food and drink, glass and plastic bottles, abandoned clothing and used fireworks buried half way in the sand. Check out a photo of what we found, and then scroll below that to see a before and after image of an area of the beach that the 420 Friendly Illustrations crew cleaned up with pride.

In the end a good time was had by all and Big Pete and family were pleased with the outcome. By the end of the day we cleared something like over 30 lbs. of trash up off the beach. We have to say the beach was left looking sparkling after all our efforts. When everyone was done, Pete fired up the grill and treated us all to burgers and dogs. It was a great day both for the environment and the cannabis community and for mankind in general.

Know of any cannabis community events for a good cause happening near you? Let us know about it in the comments below. We hope you had a safe and happy holiday weekend.

Medical Cannabis Event: Norcal Secret Sesh

5/10/2015

We had the opportunity to get onto the list at the latest medical cannabis event, the Norcal Secret Sesh which happened this last Saturday, May 9th on San Francisco’s Treasure Island. The vibe was just right and we were amazed at how the spirit of medicinal cannabis can bring people together from all walks of life. Enjoying a good time and bonding over the benefits of our mutual friend Mary. Besides snatching a batch of some tasty Lemon Tree, it had to be the multi-themed smoking rooms on the second floor perfect for stealing away from the crowd for a private sesh and making new friends.

Among some of the awesome people we conversed with last night were author Todd McCormick, Etienne director of BPG (a favorite dispensary of ours), to the legendary Frenchie Cannoli. From extract artists like Chameleon Extracts, to master growers like Cannacruz Gardens and Lemon Tree, edible greats Big Pete’s Treats, down to the average consuming patient mingling and celebrating the amazing benefits that come with cannabis consumption.

Hempcon 2015 at the Cow Palace was awesome for 420 weekend. We had a great time visiting the booths of all the talented artists, smelling the flowers and sampling some of the tastiest medicine that's been circulating around lately. Mostly it was so great to see all of 420 Friendly Illustrations awesome designs floating around on banners, labels, stickers and even life size cutout of the characters we've designed during the past few months. We had a blast picking up treats and extracts from some of our favorites. We also had a blast meeting new people in the business, saying hello to friends and making new connections. Did you make it out to this year's convention? Tell us about your favorite moment, booth or medicine in our comments section below.

Cannabis Art for Charity - 420 Friendly Illustrations Participates

Whenever we can do anything for charity, we're always for it, so I was honored when Dankman G of HTP Group asked if he could use a recent gifted image as the design for a t-shirt that helps feed the children. Proceeds from the t-shirt, pictured above and available for purchase now, will go the Feed My Starving Children charity. The t-shirt turned out pretty fresh and there are still some shirts available from this limited run. But the best part is that each time you buy a t-shirt your single donation helps create over 100 meals for starving children. Look fashionable and feel good about your purchase.

Visit Dankman's Booster page for further information, but most importantly help raise money for charity and help promote the MMJ community in a positive light. What do you think about the t-shirt design, let me know in the comments below and also if you've purchased yours!

The New Year kicked off with 420 Friendly Illustrations first art display at the new HTP Group Dab Lounge. A full 30 ft. wall display of some of the work I’m proud to have been able to produce for the Cannabis Community. Owner of HTP and Ganjaprenuer, Dankman G has set up the first Dab Lounge in Vallejo Ca and I was more than happy to provide a little added ambiance to the already awesome establishment. Please stop by the new HTP dispensary and show love to mine and all of the talented works on display right now.

Fair Warning: High quality medications and good vibes may keep one relaxing in the Dab Lounge longer than you might expect.

Exclusive Cannabis T-Shirts

What Would You Wear?

Picture
Our designs have opened up to much support from the community out there and a few people have been asking about shirts... Well guess what? They're coming soon. We've been hard at work behind the scenes trying to careful plan the launch of our canna-shop... but before we get ahead of ourselves, we wanted to ask you first: Would you even wear this?

We've received a lot of interest in our "Pink Lemonade" design, and are working quickly to make it the first release in our line. As we figure out exactly how to bring this to you, we wanted to tease a little contest we're putting together to see what the interest is like...that means you could be the first to rock this shirt!

Tell us what you think? Should "Pink Lemonade" be the first release in our apparel line? Let us know if YES or NO in the comments below. Then keep an eye out on our blog and
Instagram account for our Pink Lemonade contest and be the first to rock it!

Stay high!

The prints of the LEGENDS MURAL look great and I'm getting ready to have a full day tomorrow at Hemp Con at the Cow Palace. Was hoping to buy tickets in advance, but the website doesn't seem to function that way. Aw well, stand in line it is. Regardless can't wait to catch up with some of my friends and meet some of the other artists I've been following on Instagram and because of distance, will finally get to meet tomorrow.

MEETING BIG PETE OF PETE'S TREATS

8/16/2014

Last Saturday I ventured out to Green Remedy Collective in Richmond, CA to meet Pete of Pete's Treats for the first time. He was there running some promo for his Take-N-Bake medicated cookies and man, were they good! More importantly Pete was a really nice guy.

Best of all I was able to walk away with my very own personal tub of Take-N-Bake Peanut Butter cookies which he says you can only get exclusively at three dispensaries in the entire Bay Area, or catch him like I did, while out doing promo. Can't wait to try mushing all the cookie dough together and make one monster cookie. Thanks again Pete's Treats!!
